Our Data Center Engineering team envisions the future of our data centres’ physical design, while our Technical, Engineering, and Support teams bring concepts to life. To achieve our aim of making our data centres the most energy efficient and environmentally sustainable in the world, the teams apply innovative techniques to cut operational costs and extend existing practises.
The Hardware Operations team is in charge of monitoring, maintaining, and deploying the cutting-edge physical equipment that supports Google’s strong search technology. Google’s sophisticated Data Center Server and Network Infrastructure is deployed and maintained by Operations Engineers. Their responsibilities include everything from physical deployment of data center-related technologies to close collaboration with numerous parties. This group provides an excellent introduction to Google’s larger technical community.
The infrastructure established by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running is behind everything our users see online. We make Google’s product portfolio feasible by constructing and managing our data centres and building the next generation of Google platforms. We’re delighted to be our engineers’ engineers, and we like voiding warranties by dismantling and rebuilding items. We maintain our networks up and running to provide the finest and fastest experience for our users.

Responsibilities:
- Contribute to repairs, upgrades, decoms, deployments, cabling, etc.
- Identify trends for machine failure, report bugs and work with remote teams to resolve them. Communicate effectively with English speaking clients and partners.
- Contribute to projects in deployment, maintenance, and provide support of current and new data center infrastructure.
- Configure and troubleshoot Linux OS related challenges on our servers, and resolve critical or escalated technical challenges over a significant population of affected equipment.
- Work in a physically-demanding setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Classroom experience in or a practical understanding of Linux and Networking, including installation, systems administration and troubleshooting
- Knowledge and experience with hardware architecture, maintenance and repair.
- Knowledge of networking, including topology and protocol concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technical skills and domains.
- Ability to work as a team member, and to collaborate with others to help resolve challenges.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
