PUBDET 2017 Exam Dates, Application Form, Eligibility Criteria

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board was formed in the year 1962 for the purpose of holding Common Entrance Examinations for admission to the Undergraduate Level Engineering Courses in the State of West Bengal. The endeavour of the Board has always been directed towards enhancement of transparency in conducting Common Entrance Examinations for various Undergraduate and Postgraduate level courses in the State through effective state-of-the-art technology.

For 2017–2018 academic sessions, the Board will conduct common entrance examinations for admission to three years B.A. /B.Sc. (Honours) course (PUBDET) in the Presidency University. The medium of admission tests will be English except for vernacular subjects like Hindi and Bengali.

Eligibility Criteria

– Candidates who have passed/appeared in the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2 system) conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education, West Bengal, or an equivalent examination, not before 2015, are eligible to apply.

– For admission, the candidate must pass any of the aforementioned examinations, with at least five recognised subjects (full marks not less than 100), including the English language.

– Candidates may apply online and register for PUBDET even before the publication of their (10+2) level result.

– After publication of their result, they should visit the online application website again, login and if desired, revise choice of department/subject for admission keeping in view the eligibility criteria given below.

How to Apply

– Application has to be filled up ONLINE at the portal: www.wbjeeb.in

– The candidate needs to visit the portal and follow the links EXAMINATIONS – PUBDET – ONLINE APPLICATION. The form is interactive in nature. There are two major steps in application form submission as follows:

Step – 1. Registration:

– The candidate has to input name, date of birth, gender, mobile number and e-mail id. Candidate must take utmost care to give these inputs. If mistakes are committed there is no chance of correction. The mobile number and e-mail id entered will be used for all subsequent communication.

– Candidates also have to choose a log-in ID and password and remember them, which he/she will use for future log-in.

PUBDET candidates have to first choose group-A or group-B of subjects and then choose maximum two subjects from his/her choice of group. The groups are as follows,

Step – 2. Application Form:

This step comprises the following subsections.
Personal details: Candidate has to input information like category, religion, domicile state, guardian’s name and address, communication address, permanent address etc.

Academic information: Candidates for PUBDET will be able to enter their data for this subsection once their results at the 10+2 level are published. The candidate has to provide information like Board, year of passing, marks scored, name and address of the institution etc. The system will automatically check his/her eligibility for the subject(s) chosen.
Candidates appearing for PUMDET may, however, fill up the available information and proceed to the next step.

Uploading scanned documents: In this sub-section, the candidate will be asked to upload the following documents in the formats specified below.

Recent passport sized coloured photograph of the candidate storage size : Up to 200 KB (.JPEG/.JPG)
Full signature of the candidate storage size : Up to 200 KB (.JPEG/.JPG)
Age proof (Admit Card of 10th standard examination) or birth certificate. storage size : Up to 200 KB (.JPEG/.JPG)
Mark sheet/grade card of XII standard (for PUBDET) storage size : Up to 200 KB (.JPEG/.JPG)

Declaration and confirmation: In this sub-section, the candidate has to agree to a statutory declaration, without which his/her application stands incomplete. Upon successful completion of the application, the system will generate a confirmation page congaing all the details entered by the candidate. The candidate needs to preserve a print out of this page till admission.

Application Fee

Candidate will have to pay the examination fee either online (by net banking, debit/credit cards) or offline (by e-challan). If offline mode is chosen, an e-challan will be generated automatically. Candidate needs to take a print of the challan and pay the fee in any branch of Allahabad Bank.

– The fee amount is Rs. 350/- + Rs. 10 as bank charges for both PUBDET examinations

Exam Cities

– The examination will be conducted in various zones e.g. Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, Kalyani, Murshidabad, Bankura, Haldia, Asansol, Burdwan, Durgapur, Siliguri, Jamshedpur, Guwahati, Silchar and Agartala.

– Any of the examination centres may be dropped if an adequate number of candidates is not available.

– The applicants opting for such centre(s) will be allotted seats to the nearest location of his/her choice.

– The allotment of examination centre is fully at the discretion of the Board. Allotment made by the Board is final and no request for changing the zone/centre of examination will be entertained under any circumstances.

Admit Card / Hall Ticket

The candidate should verify all the information in the admit card. If any issue is found, then get it corrected with the concerned authority.

– The candidates are required to carry the admit card to the examination hall. Without it, you will not be allowed to enter the examination hall. It is also very important to document for the further admission processes.

– Candidates must ensure that the admit card is not mutilated/ distorted/ soiled even by accident. Candidates with such mutilated/ distorted/ soiled admit cards will not be allowed to appear in PUBDET.

– Candidates are advised to retain their admit cards carefully in secured place in undamaged condition in all respects till completion of admission procedure.

Results

The Board will publish the merit list in its website: www.wbjeeb.in and final allotment of seats will be made through counselling to be conducted by the WBJEEB. The Board neither publishes nor communicates the result to any individual applicant. It does not have any provision for post-publication scrutiny or review and hence such requests will not be entertained.

Merit list for PUBDET will be prepared as outlined before. In case of ties it will be broken by sequentially applying the following set of rules:
1. The first criterion will be on higher admission test marks.
2. The second criterion will be on the least negative mark obtained by the candidate in the MCQ test excepting Hindi and Political Science. For these two subjects, the marks obtained at the 10+2 level will be considered as the criterion for separation.

Eligibility Criteria

– Candidates who have passed/appeared B.A. (Hons)/B.Sc. (Hons) final examination from any recognised University not before 2015, are eligible to apply as per the eligibility table is given below.

– In exceptional cases, students who have obtained their Bachelor’s degree before 2014 will be permitted to sit for the Admission test. Such candidates must seek approval from the Chairpersons of the Admission Committee (please contact the Office of the concerned Faculty Deans at Presidency University) before submitting their application.

– Candidates, who have appeared or are appearing for the final B.A./B.Sc. Examination at the time of admission, but do not have their final results, may seek provisional admission, on the basis of marks obtained up to the previous parts of their Bachelor’s examination. If selected, they must submit their final mark sheet by 31st August, demonstrating that they fulfil the minimum condition of eligibility, failing which their candidature will be cancelled.

Paper Pattern

* The MCQ test will be a qualifying test. Papers of the written test will be evaluated for only those candidates, who qualify in the MCQ test. Scripts of written examination will be evaluated for a maximum number of 10 times the total seat capacity with bunching effect. Marks of MCQ test will not be considered for preparation of the merit list.
– MCQ means Multiple Choice Questions.
– All multiple choice questions will have four answer options; only one of them being correct.
– Correct response will fetch full marks
– No response will fetch zero marks.
– Wrong response or multiple responses will fetch negative one-fourth (- ¼ the) of the full mark (for example if full mark for the question is 2 then it will fetch -½).

Eligibility Criteria

– Must be a citizen of India.
– Must have passed Diploma Examination from UGC recognised Indian University / Government / Statutory Body in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with at least 60% marks or equivalent Grade Point (at least 45% marks or equivalent Grade Point for SC/ST/PWD)
– Must have at least one-year relevant experience in the respective field since publication of his/her Diploma examination result till the last date of submission of application forms.
– If selected for admission, must obtain „No Objection Certificate‟ for the course of study from his/her employer.
– There is no age limit.

Seats Available

28 seats for General, 9 for SC, 2 for ST and 1 for Pwd candidates are available in each course.
It should be noted that a diploma holder will be admitted to evening Degree course in Engineering in respect of the discipline for which Diploma is awarded.

In this step, the candidate has to enter his/her personal and academic information and also two choices of examination centre. The fields mark with (*) are mandatory fields, i.e. mandatory to be filled in.

Step – 3 Image Upload:

At this step, the candidate has to upload scanned copies of his/her photograph, signature and Admit Card / Mark sheet of 10th standard as age proof.

Step – 4: Payment and Confirmation

The candidate has to take a print out of the e-challan for payment of fees of Rs. 510/- (Application fee = Rs. 500/- and Bank Charges = Rs. 10/-). Carry the e-challan to any branch of Allahabad Bank and make payment.

After making the payment, the candidate has to login again and enter relevant payment details. At the end of these four steps candidate will “SUBMIT” finally, when the system will automatically generate a confirmation page. The candidate needs to download, take a printout and preserve
this confirmation page.

Application fee is 510/- only (500/- + 10/- Bank Charges)

Exam Cities

The examination will be conducted in the centre(s) located at KOLKATA and HOWRAH. Any examination centre may be dropped if adequate numbers of candidates are not available. Paper Pattern

– There will be separate question papers for Electrical, Mechanical and Civil Engineering candidates.

– The paper will contain 100 MCQ type questions. Answers are to be marked (bubbled) on OMR Answer Sheets using black /blue ball point pen.

– Each question will have four answer options of which only one is correct.

– Each correct response will fetch 1 mark, each incorrect response will fetch (-1/4) mark, whereas no response will fetch zero marks.

– Multiple responses for any question will fetch (-1/4) mark. The questions will be in English language only.

How to Apply

The candidate can apply through various methods – Online, Download or purchase through SRM University centers.

Before heading towards applying, the candidates should ensure they have following things at hand.

  • Signature: You need to put your signature on a white paper with using black pen. Please ensure that size of the image should be 200 KB.
  • Photograph: Candidates must put recently taken photograph with a file size of 200 KB.

Online

  • Step 1: To apply online, the candidate should head to the official website of SRM University – http://www.srmuniv.ac.in. You need to then enter your name, email ID, mobile number,etc. Once registered, you would receive the username and password through email.
  • Step 2: Using the login details, you need to login on the website again to complete the application form.
  • Step 3: You need to Put your preferences of university’campuses. You can put maximum three preferences for SRM University Chennai and two for SRM University Haryana.
  • Step 4: Candidates will have to book their slots and exam city.
  • Step 5: Once the exam city is booked, the candidates need to fill up your personal, educational details. After providing personal and educational info, candidates need to put their communication address. You need to enter your particulars like Program Choice, Exam & Personal Details and the postal Address for Communication.
  • Step 6: If you have appeared for GATE or TANCET, and want to use the score, then you are upload them.
  • Step 7: Upload your photograph and signature.
  • Step 8: Proceed to make payments online
  • Step 9: The completed application form will be shown. The Candidates need to take printout of this page and keep it safe with them for future use.

Exam Cities

SRMGEET Test Centres are selected from a list of 50 cities, so you should choose the centre astutely.

Exam Pattern

The time duration of exam will be 150 minutes. The SRMGEET Exam 2017 Paper format will be in MCQs.

The question paper will be of 12 sections for various disciplines.

Total 300 marks paper will be judged. Each correct answer will be awarded 2 marks each. Provision of Negative Marking, 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer. Candidates are required to answer only one section for their branch. Each section will have 100 questions.

Admit Card / Hall Ticket

The admit card should be downloaded from official website. The candidate should verify all the information in the admit card. If any issue is found, then get it corrected with the concerned authority.

The candidates are required to carry the admit card to the examination hall. No one would be allowed to appear for the test without a valid hall ticket. It is also very important to document for the further admission processes. It needs to be well-looked-after and produced at the time of counselling and admission.

Selection Process

The candidates are selected for M.Tech admissions on the basis of SRMGEET Exam 2017 conducted by SRM University.

Note: The candidates with a valid score in GATE, TANCET are eligible to apply for the admission.

Results

Results of SRMGEET will be announced in the month of May 2017, and counseling will start thereafter. The merial list will be uploaded on the official website.

Counselling Process

Candidates must attend the SRMGEET Counselling 2017 alongwith their original documents for verification. Candidates can specify their seat preferences after document verification. Seat Allotment will be on the basis of the SRMGEET Merit Rank and seat availability. They must pay the admission fee after allotment to confirm their admission.

Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Examination (HSEE) is conducted by Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai for admission to the five-year integrated Master of Arts (M.A.) programme. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications

The candidate should have passed 10+2 exam conducted by a Central or State Board recognized by the Association of Indian Universities with 60% marks in aggregate. Candidates belonging to SC, ST and PwD categories
must secure a minimum of 55% in aggregate.

Age

The candidate should be 25 years of age on October 1st in the examination year. In the case of SC, ST and PwD candidates, upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years.

Physical Fitness

Every qualified candidate will have to submit a Physical Fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner in the prescribed format that will be made available along with the letter of offer of admission. Candidates will be admitted only if they are physically fit for pursuing a course of study at the Institute.

Application Fee

The cost of application fee is Rs 2000/- for General / OBC Male candidates. The application fee is Rs 1000 for SC / ST / PwD and female candidates.

The service charges of the Bank will be Rs.30/-. The examination fee must be paid either through Net Banking / Credit Card / Debit Card or through the Indian Bank Challan generated during the process of application.

How to Apply

The application to HSEE is through online mode only.

  1. To register for HSEE, the candidate should log in to the site http://hsee.iitm.ac.in and select from the menu “Apply Online” and follow the instructions on the site.
  2. Once prompted, upload scanned (i) Photograph, (ii) Signatures and (iii) Supporting Documents.
  3. After successfully entering the data, click the ‘finalize’ button. After this, the details cannot be
    edited.

Candidates must pay the examination fee as applicable is through Net Banking / Credit Card / Debit Card / Indian Bank Challan that will be generated during the process of application.

The Completed application form has to be submitted online only, along with the scanned photograph, signature, copies of relevant certificates and payment details of examination fee either through offline mode (system generated Indian Bank challan) or through online modes (net banking / credit cards / debit cards), on or before January 25, 2017.

Exam Pattern

The exam paper will be in English language only. The exam duration is of three hours.

The exam paper contains two parts:

Part 1

Part I consists of objective type multiple choice questions for 2½ hours duration (150 Minutes), administered
through computer.

Part I covers the following topics:
(i) English and Comprehension Skill;
(ii) Analytical and Quantitative Ability;
(iii) General Studies covering the areas of Indian Economics (since Independence), Indian Society, Contemporary World Affairs (post-World War II); and
(iv) Environment and Ecology.

Part II

Part II involves essay writing for 30 Minutes to be written on answer sheet distributed to the candidates at the end of Part I.

Part II requires the candidate to write an essay on general topic involving description, or/and
reflection or/and discussion.

Admit Card / Hall Ticket

The admit card will be available for download from the second week of March 2017 till mid-April 2017. The Admit Card will bear the name, photograph, date of birth, address and category of the candidate along with the name and the address of the HSEE Centre allotted.

The candidate should verify all the information in the admit card. If any issue is found, then get it corrected with the concerned authority. Candidates have to carefully preserve their Admit Cards till the entire admission procedure through HSEE is completed.

Merit List

The HSEE Merit List made up of candidates who score at least 50% in HSEE will be prepared. Separate rank lists will be prepared corresponding to OBC (NCL), SC, ST and PwD categories.

Exam Cities

The entrance examination will be conducted in the following 10 cities:
Bangalore, Bhopal, Chennai, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, and Thiruvananthapuram.
