Indian Institute of Psychometry is an Institute which is involved in the field of harnessing, nurturing, and cultivating better Human Resource for today’s as well as tomorrow’s India.

The corner stone of this belief has been laid down by the founder Directors of iip, Prof. S. Chatterji, and Prof. (Mrs.) Manjula Mukerjee (Chatterji), who by capitalising on their beliefs and investing their reputation and goodwill (which have been earned during their tenure at ISI), had a very modest start on the 18th of July 1978. Starting operation from a small two roomed, rented flat, iip has grown to its present volume and stature. Thus at iip, we all got the lessons — To believe in our ourselves and to believe in you (if you do believe in yourself!) and believe, together we can do it — “Make India an IT super power by 2005”.

iip is operating with credence and grit for the last two decades and a brace of years and its claim to success will be hallmarked by more than a handful of both private sector and public sector organisations like the three state Governments of India who have been deploying iip’s psychometric skills for recruiting, selecting, interviewing potential candidates, so that the system dose not get burdened by ineffective, non-performing human vegetables. Moreover, in course of its activities iip evolved the group task – a procedure for objective assessment of personality under selection situation. At present this method is being used in foreign countries and we are proud to say that this procedure has been acclaimed as the “Best Single Predictor” of success.

The cornerstones of the structure of the Institution are the Directors of IIP, Prof. S. Chatterji, and Prof. (Mrs.) Manjula Mukerjee (Chatterji), who by capitalizing their beliefs and investing their reputation and goodwill (earned during their tenure at the Indian Statistical Institute) launched IIP with a very modest beginning on 18th July 1978.

About Asutosh College

The renowned mathematician Sir. Asutosh Mukherjee with a deep dream did establish this college. Asutosh College is affiliated underUniversity of Calcutta. The college has a rich heritage that contributes to its own culture. The College was built up in the year 1916 under the leadership of Sir Asutosh Mukherjee, the famous mathematician, educationist and the then Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calcutta. The College was then known as South Suburban College and was housed at a rented premise.
When Sir Asutosh passed away in 1924, the college was renamed after him.

The Asutosh College shifted to its current location in 1935. The present college building has a premise of forty thousand square feet and more than fifty classrooms which can contain about 4000 students. Twenty-eight subjects are taught as Honors/Major/Vocational at the Undergraduate level.
In the year 2002, a post graduation course in Environmental Science was introduced.Post graduate courses in Applied Geology,Bengali,Computer and Information Science,Geography,Zoology are introduced in between 20009 and 2014.In 2013 Add-on courses in Hospital waste disposal management,Industrial Chemistry and Travel & tourism introduce. All the departments have their own libraries and well-organized laboratories for Science departments.

About National Institute of Management

National Institute of Management Calcutta (NIMC) has been established in Calcutta, one of the oldest industrial metropolises of the country, to impart management training to young men and women in various discipline to enable them to meet the growing demands of Industry in today’s liberalised economic environment. The Institute was established under the aegis of Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) which is running more than 120 schools and Professional Institute throughout the country including an Engineering College, another MBA Institute , and an Institute of Hotel management. NIMC is run by experienced professionals and academicians with Dr. Sujit Kumar Basu (ex-IIM, Calcutta) as Director.

Fully residential, first batch of MBA programme started as scheduled, in July’97, with a intake of 60 students. The second batch of MBA programme started with an intake of 60 students from 6th July’98. The third batch of the programme is scheduled to start on 5th July’1999.

The Institute is launching another programme leading to the Degree of Master in Computer Applications (MCA), 3 year full time residential course with batch strength of 30 students, from 5th July’99.

Mission

The mission of NIMC is to remain ever committed to excellence in all endeavours related to imparting education and training to youth in management and related disciplines so as to facilitate their gainful utilization in enhancing quality of managerial performance in organizations.

Objectives

To provide comprehensive catalytic support for education and development of young men and women in management and related areas, in a disciplined environment, in consonance with the contemporary needs of the industry. To provide an effective forum for interaction between academics and organisational decision-makers through consulting and training programmes for enhancing organisational efficiency.

To promote quality research, both theoretical and applied, aimed at building and documenting knowledge and developing indigenous literature on management. To inculcate in the students a spirit of leadership based on values of national heritage and tradition and the society and prepare them to face challenges of management of change. The Institute strives to achieve its objectives through various programmes of education, training and research.

The aim of all educational programmes at NIMC is to develop outstanding leaders the society needs for shaping tomorrow’s business. Discipline, effectiveness, all round excellence and a strong sense of fraternity are the key words and phrases that are greatly emphasized in the NIMC environment.
