C.Subramanian along with Prof. P.S.Mani Sundaram, the Vice-Chancellor of Bharathidasan University chaired a Meeting of leading academicians and Industrialists and an idea was born. Their dream was to create an Academy that would beWith this vision in mind, a partnership was signed with BHEL to create the country’s first ever Management Institute that would be housed inside an industrial giant. Thus was born Bharathidasan Institute of Management – School of Excellence. BIM offers one of the most coveted MBA programmes in India. Entry to this course is regulated through a rigorous selection process. BIM has an annual intake of 120 students. BIM enjoys a unique symbiotic relationship with BHEL in terms of academic inputs and continuous industry exposure. BIM’s excellence over the years had led the Honourable President Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam to choose BIM as an ideal training ground for DRDO Scientists. BIM boasts of a faculty profile that would make any institution proud. The core faculty in the various streams is backed with academic knowledge and industry experience and actively works on research projects throughout the year. The academic structure at BIM is such that academic inputs provided by the core faculty are backed by industrial knowledge imparted by the Guest Lectures. The visiting aculty are also carefully chosen to ensure only the best teach at BIM.

The students at BIM come from diverse educational backgrounds. While roughly half of the students are engineers, the rest is composed of a healthy mix of commerce, arts and science graduates. Candidates with prior work experience are preferred but outstanding reshers are also encouraged. This is substantiated by the fact that more than half the class enters the course backed with prior experience in the industry.

About Thiagarajar School of Management TSM, Madurai

Established in the year 1962 by the great philanthropist and industrialist, Shri. Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiar, Thiagarajar School of Management (TSM) began with the aim to impart professional education to managers who had a burning desire to scale up their career potential with better managerial skills. “TSM”, as it is popularly called, ignited its institution building with an Executive Development Programme (EDP) to enhance the skills of the practicing managers and entrepreneurs in the vicinity of Madurai. The success of EDP and the accolades received from the industry provided the impetus to kick start the Master of Business Administration as a part-time programme in 1972. A full time MBA course started later in 1986 became a quick success drawing the attention of people from various paths of life.

TSM offers PGDM and MBA programmes which are approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi, and has been conferred autonomous status by the UGC and Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU). TSM has also got the candidacy status for Accreditation with ACBSP (Accreditation Council for Business School & Programs). TSM’s admissions are based on all-India tests such as CAT and MAT or the State Government selection based on TANCET, with a uniform, transparent fee structure and a zero capitation fee. As TSM is a part of the Karumuttu Thiagarajar Chettiar founded institutions managed by Loyal textile Mills Ltd. group and run as a philanthropic institution, the fee structure is low enough not to be a barrier for deserving students. In addition, part /full scholarships are available from the Trust for deserving students.

TSM has constituted three committees namely; Management Committee, Board of Studies and Academic Council with the required membership profile.

This 50 year old institute is located in the heart of Madurai city, in a lush green 17- acre campus with global standard infrastructure.
