The Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration, popularly known as HIPA, was established on January 1, 1974 at ‘FAIRLAWNS’, a place about 12 kms. from Shimla on the Mashobara road. The Institute is located in a building with a historical past. The building having serene and picturesque surroundings with well laid out spacious and luxuriant lawns was originally got constructed by Mr. R. Dixon of the foreign office of British India. Later, it was purchased by Nawab Muzaffar Ali Khan Quizzalbash of Malerkotla. On his migration to Pakistan in 1947 the property came to the Government of Punjab State, which converted it into a Circuit House. At the time of re-organization of States in November, 1966 the property was transferred to Himachal Pradesh government, which subsequently selected it for setting up the Institute. Over time, this Institute, which virtually began from a scratch, has bloomed into a full-fledged training institution having all the facilities that an Institute of this nature is expected to have.

Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is an autonomous organisation under the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India. Formerly known as Imperial Council of Agricultural Research, it was established on 16 July 1929 as a registered society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 in pursuance of the report of the Royal Commission on Agriculture. The ICAR has its headquarters at New Delhi. The Council is the apex body for co-ordinating, guiding and managing research and education in agriculture including horticulture, fisheries and animal sciences in the entire country. With 97 ICAR institutes and 47 agricultural universities spread across the country this is one of the largest national agricultural systems in the world.

The ICAR has played a pioneering role in ushering Green Revolution and subsequent developments in agriculture in India through its research and technology development that has enabled the country to increase the production of foodgrains by 4 times, horticultural crops by 6 times, fish by 9 times (marine 5 times and inland 17 times), milk 6 times and eggs 27 times since 1950-51, thus making a visible impact on the national food and nutritional security. It has played a major role in promoting excellence in higher education in agriculture. National Entrance Screening Test (NEST)

National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) is a test conducted for admissions to Integrated MSc programme in basic sciences – Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics at National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CBS), Mumbai. Both NISER and UM-DAE CBS were set up by Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India in 2007. All the candidates admitted to 5-year Integrated MSc programme at NISER and CBS are eligible for INSPIRE, Govt. of India, scholarship of ₹5,000/- per month and ₹20,000/- per year for carrying out summer projects.

NISER will 130+2 seats including reserved seats for SC/ST/OBC/PD candidates and two seats for candidates from the state of J&K as per Government norms. UM-DAE CBS will have 45+2 seats this year with reservations as per government norms, including two seats for candidates from the state of J&K and reservation for persons with disability (PD).

The test is conducted in around 59 cities (over 100 venues) across India. This page gives the detailed procedure for applying for the test, syllabus of the test and various dead lines.

Eligibility Criteria

The Candidates should qualify the eligibility criteria listed below:

Educational qualification

The candidate should have have passed in current year or in last year. Students appearing in current year are also eligible. (Where only Letter Grade is given by the Board, a certificate from the Board specifying equivalent percentage marks will be required. In the absence of such a certificate the decision of the respective Admission Committees will be final.)

The candidate should secure at least 60% marks in aggregate (or equivalent grade) in Class XII (or equivalent) examination from any recognized Board in India. For Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates and for Persons with Disability (PD), the minimum requirement is 55%.

Age Limit

Candidates in General and OBC category should be born on or after August 1 of appearing examination year. The age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC / ST / Physically Disabled (PD) candidates.

For OBC candidates, the OBC (NCL) certificate must have been issued on or after June 01 of examination year

Application Fee

The application fee for the male candidates of General/OBC category is 700/-. The application fee for SC / ST / PD categories and all female candidates is 350/-. Payments can be made by DD or using credit card/debit card/net-banking through online payment gateway.

Candidates can also make the payments through Demand Draft (DD) for required amount may be prepared from any bank and should be drawn in favour of NISER-NEST and payable at Bhubaneswar. The DD should be sent along with a printout of the application summary obtained at the end of the application process.

How to Apply

NEST has only online mode of application. There is no offline application mode. To apply for NEST the candidates must fill-up the online application form through www.nestexam.in. Candidates are strongly advised to read through the detailed online application procedure available on the website.

Incomplete applications in any respect will not be accepted.

The admit card for NEST will be available for downloading from April 2017. Physical Admit cards will not be dispatched to any applicant. Applicants must download their admit cards from NEST website (after login). The download link will be available only till the day of examination. Safe-keeping of one copy of admit card is therefore strongly advised because the successful candidates have to produce the admit card in original during the admission.

The candidate should verify all the information in the admit card. If any issue is found, then get it corrected with the concerned authority.

The NEST question will be in English language only.

The questions are designed to test candidates’ subject comprehension and analytic ability. In the subject sections, there will be negative marking for incorrect answers

The question paper will consist of 5 (five) sections of objective (MCQ) type questions carrying 50 marks in each section.

• Section 1 is the general section and is compulsory for all candidates. There will be no negative marking in general section.
• Sections 2 through 5 will contain subject specific questions from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.

Candidates are permitted to attempt as many subject-sections as they wish. However, only the best three subject scores along with the score in the general section will be counted for evaluation and merit list preparation.

Some questions may have one or more correct answers for which marks can only be earned by marking all correct answers and no wrong answer.

Marine Engineering & Research Institute was established at the onset of Independence in 1947 to satisfy the growing need of marine engineers in India. MERI 2013 application form along with MERI 2013 information brochure can be downloaded from the IMU website www.imu.tn.nic.in. Such downloaded application forms are to be submitted along with the DD of 1000/- (General / OBC Category) and 600/- ( SC / ST Category ) drawn in favour of “Indian Maritime University, Mumbai Campus” payable at Mumbai.

Exam Pattern

MERI doesn’t have any separate Entrance Examination, It follows the score of JEE (Advanced) Score for giving an admission. The Exam pattern of JEE (Advanced) is following :

JEE (Main) 2017 shall have two papers,
Paper-1 (B.E. / B. Tech.) and Paper-2(B. Arch./ B. Planning). Depending upon on the course (s) candidates are seeking admission, may take Paper-1 B.E. / B. Tech.), or Paper-2 B. Arch./ B. Planning), or both. Subject combination for each paper, type of questions in each paper and mode of examination available is given in the table below.

• Exam comprises of two papers, each paper of three hours duration.
• Papers are printed separately for English and Hindi languages, paper will be given based on the language selection done while registering for JEE (Advance).
• Paper mainly consists of three subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics
• Question consists of different sections like multiple choices, test comprehension, reasoning and analytical.
• Evaluation is done on negative marking for wrong answer basis.

Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS)

The JGEEBILS test is a shared entrance test for graduate programmes in Biology and interdisciplinary life sciences. The test originated from the TIFR annual entrance test for Biology, which was used by DBS/TIFR as well as NCBS/TIFR. The motivation for this shared test is to reduce the difficulties that students faced with multiple entrance tests, and to reduce the duplication of effort by many institutions in conducting such examinations. JGEEBILS is intended to serve as a common point for students from any science discipline or engineering to start the process to apply for biology graduate programmes around India. Participating institutions contribute questions and logistical support for conducting the examination.

Eligibility Criteria

Biology In Ph.D Program – Interested candidate must have done Master’s degree in Science or must be a Bachelors in Applied Science. Plus, candidate must have also done the training for at least 1 year.

M.Sc Wildlife Biology and Conservation – Candidates who have done graduation in any discipline with at least 50% marks in important subjects are eligible to give this examination. Exam Pattern

The NCAT is open for students of engineering, management and science streams in institutes of higher education enrolled in graduate and post-graduate courses. There will be separate tests for the students of different categories, in which student’s creative thinking and logical reasoning abilities will be tested. The test will be conducted in two phases.

Round 1 will be conducted at the college end and two top performing students of each category from each college from round 1 will qualify for the next round of Test

Round 2 will be conducted at Delhi (New Delhi*). Apart from MCQs there will be subjective questions on creativity and an activity to assess the achievement motivation of the student

The medium of the objective test will be English

Question Papers Pattern

ROUND 1
The participants have to answer 100 multiple choice questions in 120 minutes. An additional 10 minutes will be given to the participants for filling up the information on the OMR answer sheet at the beginning of exam. The question paper will have three sections:
Section 1
– Logical Reasoning (20 Questions)
– Data Interpretation (20 Questions)
– Pattern Recognition (20 Questions)

Section 2
– Math (20 Questions)

Section 3
– English (20 Questions)

One mark will be allotted for each right answer and 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. Students need to achieve the cut off score in sections 2 and 3, however the scores of both these sections shall not be included in the final score required to qualify for the 2nd round.

Exam Timing: 09:30 am to 11:30 am

ROUND 2
The participants have to answer 60 multiple choice questions with subjective questions testing creativity followed by an activity on achievement motivation.
