A man can walk up a moving ‘up’ escalator in1/2 minutes. He can walk down this moving ‘up’ escalator in 1.5 minutes. His walking pace is the same up stairs as it is down stairs.
In 1.5 minutes the man can walk down 1 moving escalator or up 3. In 3
minutes walking, half the time up and half the time down, he can walk 4
escalator lengths. This is his walking pace – 4 escalator lengths in 3 minutes
– for the effect of the moving escalator is canceled. He can therefore climb
(or descend) the still escalator in 1/4 of 3 minutes, or 45 seconds. In the 1.5
minutes required to walk down the moving “up” escalator he walks the
equivalent of 2 still escalators. Therefore the escalator must have moved
up once in that lime and its speed is 1 length In 1.5 minutes.
Aliter : If x = number of steps, e = speed of escalator and m = speed of man,
we get e + m = x/30; –e + m = x/90. On adding these equations, we get
m = x/45 and e comes to x/90. We can now solve for required values.

Pankaj and Seema decided to meet at the Corn Club near Nal Stop at 6.00pm. Pankaj stays at Shivaji Nagar and Seema stays at Kothrud. Pankaj and Seema left their houses at the same time. Pankaj decided to go via FC Road. He covers 1st 2 Km at 30 km/hr and when he reaches FC his speed is reduced to 10 km/hr and with this reduced speed he covers the next 3 km. He then takes right turn and covers the 2 km distance at 30 km/hr. Nal Stop's Corn Club is 8 km from Seema's place.
Pankaj covers 2 km in 4 min
He covers next 3 km in 18 min
He covers the next 2 km in 4 min
So total time taken = 26 min
Seema's speed = 8/(26/60) = 18.5 km/hr.

Total time taken = 26 min + 8/(32/60) + 15/(45/60) = 61 min
He has covered 30 km.
Speed = 30/61 = 29.5 km/hr.

The maximum speed he can attain is 400/80 = 5m/s. The speed for first lap
is 400/100 = 4m/s. 5 > 4(1.1 )n–1 where n denotes the no. of laps. Maximum
value of n = 3.

Rampur is 100 km from Sitapur. At 3 pm Bharat Express leaves Rampur for Sitapur and travels at a constant speed of 30 km/ h. One hour later, Laxman Mail leaves Sitapur for Rampur and travels at a constant speed of 40 kmph’. Each train makes one stop only at a station 10 km from its starting point and remains there for 15 min.
When the two trains meet, distance between the trains will be zero. Therefore distance from the both trains of any place on the way will same.
Therefore, when trains meet both are equidistant to Rampur.
