Xavier Admission Test (XAT) 2020 Application Form, Exam Dates, Eligibility Criteria & Syllabus

Xavier Admission Test (XAT) is a national level entrance exam, for admission into the postgraduate management programmes at Xavier Institutes, conducted by Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI), Jamshedpur. XLRI conducts the test on behalf of the XAMI. XAT is one of the oldest competitive examinations in India. XAT’s testing framework is designed to meaningfully check the aptitude of candidates for the future success of business. The test scores obtained from the XAT Exam is being used by more than 100 institutes for the admission. Besides XLRI and other Xavier Institutes, hosts of other reputed Top B-Schools in India also accept XAT scores including Loyola Institute of Business Administration, Chennai and Goa Institutes of Management, Indian Institute of Finance, New Delhi and S P Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai.

Eligibility Criteria

The XAT 2020 Eligibility Criteria

  • Students who have completed three years of Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any discipline, recognised by a University or Deemed University.
  • Those completing their final examination bY 10 June 2021 may also apply.
  • NRI and Foreign candidates can also apply for XAT exam through valid GMAT score card (excluding Kathmandu and Dubai students).

Fee Details:

  • XAT Registration Fee (without late Fee) – Rs.1700/- Candidates interested in XLRI programs needs to pay an additional fee of Rs.300/- each.
  • XAT Registration Fee (with late Fee) – Rs.2000/- Candidates interested in XLRI programmes needs to pay an additional fee of Rs.500/- each

How to apply for XAT 2020

Students have to register for XAT and XLRI 2020 at www.xatonline.net.in. You may also apply for institutions using XAT 2020 score for admission to their programmes. Applicants for XAT 2020 can choose to pay online using credit card/ debit card/ online banking. Applicants can also make payment through a demand draft made from any bank (in favour of XLRI Jamshedpur A/C XAT). Third alternative for making payment can be “cash”. This can be done from any of the IDBI Bank branches located in India to make payment for XAT 2020.
Candidates only interested in XAT but not in XLRI need to pay a fee of Rs.. Candidates interested in XLRI programme(s) needs to pay an additional fee of Rs.300/-500/- each.

General Awareness
  • The XAT Exam will be conducted in pen and paper mode.
  • There will be two papers involved in the exam i.e. Paper 1 and Paper 2.
  • Paper 1 will contain 78 questions from Verbal and Logical Ability (23 questions), Decision Making (26 questions) and Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation (29 questions).
  • Paper 2 will contain 25 questions from General Awareness and there will be one topic from essay writing.
  • Candidates will be given 170 minutes for paper 1 exam whereas 35 minutes for paper 2.
  • Candidates can leave only 13 questions unattempted and once the limit is over, 0.05 marks will be deducted for every unattempted questions.

XAT Result 2020

The result of XAT 2020 is expected to be declared in the last week of January, 2021. The exam is likely to be conducted in the first Sunday of January, 2021.

  • Check the Sectional and Overall Scores

The hard copy of the XAT Score Card is also sent to the candidate by post. The XAT 2020 participating institutes will announce the list of candidates shortlisted on the basis of their XAT 2020 cutoffs.

The final selection procedure includes Group Discussion or Written Ability Test and Personal Interview rounds. The XLRI or Xavier Associate Management Institutes conducts separate selection procedure and no common admission process is conducted for these institutes through XAT scores.
