Quants Question

Directions: Read the following information to answer the question.

Bhajan Singh purchased 120 reams of paper at Rs 80 per ream. He spent Rs 280 on transportation, paid octroi at the rate of 40 paise per ream and paid Rs 72 to the coolie. If he wants to have a gain of 8 %, what must be the selling price per ream?. [Bank P.O., 1988]
+

Total investment = Rs. (120 * 80 + 280 + (40/100) * 120 + 72).

= Rs. (9600 + 280+48 + 72) = Rs, 10000.

Sell price of 120 reams = 108% of Rs. 10000 = Rs. 10800.

Sell Price per ream = Rs. [10800/120] = Rs. 90.

Q #4
:

Quants Question

Directions: Read the following information to answer the question.

Five years from now, Sangeeta will be twice as old as Anugeeta was five years ago and, Anugeeta will be as old as Sangeeta was five years ago. How many years back would Sangeeta have been twice as old as Anugeeta?
+

Let their present ages be s and a respectively.

    Then we have s + 5 = 2(a-5) --------(1)

            a + 5 = s –5 ----------(2)

    By solved the two educations we get s

    = 35 and a = 25. if x years back Sangeeta was twice as old as Anugeeta, we have 35 – x =2(25-x)

    x = 15

Quants Question

Directions: Read the following information to answer the question.

If 8 arithmetic means a1,a2 , a3, a4 ,a5 ,a6 , a7 ,a8 are inserted between 2 & 38 , then find the value of 4th arithmetic mean .
+

Solution : If we consider a = 2, then a + 9d = 38 , 9d = 36, -> d =4 , therefore a +4d = 2 + 4 x 4 = 18 .
