We are looking for web developers who are enthusiastic about online journalism to join a BBC World Service Visual Journalism team in Delhi. The World Service Visual Journalism hubs will be made up of an editor, and UX designer and a developer.You’ll
be based in Delhi, but you’ll be part of a larger worldwide development team and will contribute to that community. You will have the freedom to work on projects that are defined locally, but you will be supported by structures and processes that ensure you have good training and development opportunities and are always backed up by a team that will assist you in producing high-quality work.

Job Responsibilities:
- As a member of this team’s developer, you’ll be in charge of: Developing technological solutions to satisfy the needs of the local design and editing teams.
- Assessing project technical viability and providing realistic time estimates for the work to be completed.
- Any technical questions, as well as any technical design where new or novel approaches are being employed, should be referred to the rest of the technical team for assessment.
- Working as part of a multidisciplinary team and proactively shepherding new features into production.
- Liaising with the BBC News Software Development team to ensure that all live server deployments are peer reviewed and managed via GitHub using a London account.

Excellent front-end web development skills: HTML are required to be considered for this position. Patterns of semantic markup for reusability and accessibility.
CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets. Modern approaches such as Responsive Web Design and Flexbox are well-understood, yet outdated browsers are also supported.
JAVASCRIPT is a programming language written in Java. Excellent JavaScript programming skills, as well as experience building big, modular applications. Ability to develop in ES6 and an understanding of cross-browser / backwards-compatible JavaScript. Webpack knowledge would be advantageous.
