AFCAT 2 2020 Notification
AFCAT 2 2020 Notification has been released now. AFCAT 2 exam date is also announced along with the AFCAT 2 Notification PDF at the official website of Indian Air Force. As per the notice, AFCAT 2 2020 exam will be conducted on 19th and 20th September 2020.
The link for AFCAT online application is available from 15th June 2020 to 14th July 2020. AFCAT 2 notification 2020 has been released for the post of officers into Indian Air Force for various entries such as:

  • Flying Branch (Pilot)
  • Ground Duty Technical (Electrical, Mechanical)
  • Ground Duy Non-Technical (Administration, Logistics)

AFCAT is an acronym for Air Force Common Admission Test which is a national level examination for selection into Indian Air Force as a Grade A Officer. The AFCAT Exam is conducted twice in a year for recruiting Technical & Non-Technical branches of the Indian Air Force.
AFCAT is applicable for both Male & Female candidates who can be shortlisted for the following branches:

  • Technical Branch – Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science
  • Ground Duty – Logistics, Administration, Accounts

AFCAT is also invited for NCC special entry scheme (flying) and for meteorology.

AFCAT 2 2020 Eligibility Criteria

In order to apply for the AFCAT exam, candidates must be aware of the eligibility criteria:

  • Both male & female can apply for this exam.
  • The candidate must be a citizen of India.

1. Age Criteria:

  • Flying Branch: The age limit is 20 to 24 years as of 01 January 2020, i.e. between 02 July 1996 and 01 July 2001 (including both dates). The upper age limit for applicants holding a valid and current DGCA (India) Commercial Pilot License, can apply up to 26 years, i.e. born between 02 July 1994 and 01 July 2000 (both dates included).
  • Ground Duty: The age limit is 20 to 26 years as on 01 January 2020 i.e. born from 02 July 1994 to 01 Jun 2001 (both dates included).

2. Educational Qualification:

  • For Flying: The candidate must be a graduate with any degree with at least 60% marks in graduation. He must have scored 50% passed Physics & Maths in class 12th.
  • For Technical Branch: Candidates must be either appearing or qualified for a 4-year degree and having completed Sections A and B Examination of Associate Membership of the Indian Institute of Engineers or Aeronautical Society with a minimum of 60%.
  • For Ground Duty (Non-Technical): Candidates must be B. Com. Graduate with a minimum of 60% marks. For education officer post, the candidates should have MBA/MCA or M.A./M.Sc. Degree in English/Physics/International Studies/Mathematics/Chemistry/Statistics/International Relations/Defence Studies/Psychology/Computer Science/IT/Management/Journalism/Public Relation/Mass Communication with minimum of 50% marks and have scored minimum 60% marks in graduation.

AFCAT 2 2020 Syllabus & Exam Pattern

For all applicants applying for technical / non-technical posts, the Air Force Common Admission Test is mandatory. There will be 100 questions, each having 3 marks. So the total marks are 300. For each correct answer, the candidate will be awarded 3 marks while for the wrong response, 1 mark will be deducted.

Marking Scheme & Standard of AFCAT:

  • For each correct answer, the candidate will be awarded 3 marks
  • For every incorrect answer, 1 mark will be deducted.
  • There are no negative marks for any unattempted questions.

The Standard of questions of Numerical ability will equivalent to matriculation level. The level of other subjects will be of graduation level.

Syllabus of EKT:

The candidates who wish to appear for Ground Duty Technical Branch need to appear for EKT (Engineering Knowledge Test).
Some topics are common for every branch, which includes Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Drawing & Physics.

Salary of Indian Air Force Officer:

During training, a stipend of Rs. 52,600 will be paid to trainees of the Indian Air Force. The total duration of the training for AFCAT is 1 year.

AFCAT Career Growth

The career in the Indian Air Force is full of possibilities for defence aspirants as it includes both technical and non-technical branches. Trained in diverse areas and settings, you are prepared to meet all the difficulties you face in the fast-paced lives of the Air Force.
Being an Officer in the Indian Air Force, the sky is the limit for you. You start your career as a Flying Officer and can rise to the rank of Air Marshal.
The chosen one from the Flying Branch becomes the head of the family, i.e. The Chief of the Air Staff. Rank structure for commissioned officers are:

Junior Level:

  1. Flying Officer (FG OFFR): Flying Officer is the first rank in the Indian Air Force, which is worn after successful completion of training.
  2. Flight Lieutenant (FLT LT): Flight Lieutenant is the next rank in the Indian Air Force hierarchy, where you play an important role as a member of a cohesive team.

Executive Level:

  1. Squadron Leader (SQN LDR): The Squadron Leader undertakes many duties to take on greater duties under your wings. You are now a supervisor at the senior level.
  2. Wing Commander (WG CDR): The Wing Commander, the next greater rank, assumes extra duties for the greater grounds.
  3. Group Captain (GP CPT): Taking charge of men and management, you as a Group Captain may command a medium-sized Air Force Station or be an important link in decision-making mechanism at various IAF formations.

Director Level:

  1. Air Commodore (AIR CMDE): An Air Commodore is the next rank and as a Principal Director, you may command a large Air Force Station, or hold Staff Appointments (Senior Level) at Air HQ/Command HQ.
  2. Air Vice-Marshal (AIR VICE MSHL): Only the daring few climbs this high in the Air Force hierarchy. An Air Vice Marshal is responsible for taking strategic decisions.
  3. Air Marshal (AIR MSHL): It is one step below the top of the ladder, the Air Marshal commands a lot of power.

Cheif:

  1. Air Cheif Marshal: Being an Officer in the Indian Air Force, the sky is the limit for you. You start your career as a Flying Officer and can rise to the rank of Air Marshal. The chosen one from the Flying Branch becomes the head of the family, i.e. The Chief of the Air Staff.
